With Valentines Day soon approaching and only one week to go on Friday 14th February, as a gift to your loved think about turning the three meals a day into romantic meals filled with hearts and a Valentines Day theme. How about making Valentines Day that extra bit more romantic by making every meal heart shaped.

With one week left to prepare, Smart Restaurants have prepared a guide on how to use this weekend to go and buy certain products like heart shaped cutters to use to shape certain items of food. You can also buy heart shaped baking tins as well as other items such as a heart shaped toast rack for your heart shaped toast. These can be found in local supermarkets and cookery stores.

Valentines Day Breakfast

There are many things that you can do to make a breakfast more romantic. If there is not that much spare time available then just a simple breakfast in bed with a single red rose is perfectly romantic. For those with a bit more time on their hands, you can make american style pancakes, which you can cut out with heart shaped cutters, then stack them up like the picture above. You can then put you partners favourite topping on it to make it more personalised. Another thing you can do is heart shaped toast, again this can be done using heart shaped cutters. You can still use both bits of toast, the cut out shape will leave a heart shaped piece of toast, which you can put some strawberry or raspberry jam on to make a red heart, then the rest of the toast will still have a heart shape in the centre of it and can be served with butter, along with the heart shaped piece of toast which could have jam on.

Those who have a more filling breakfast such as egg on toast, or a full english breakfast, then make the most out of those heart shaped cutters and make everything you eat heart themed, including the eggs.

Valentines Day Lunch

Keeping those heart shaped cutters out from breakfast, use these to cut out heart shaped sandwiches for your loved one. Try to buy larger shaped cutters so that not so much bread is wasted. If this is not possible, then lightly place the cutter onto the sandwich and cut around the outside of it as if it were a template.

If the lunch is going to be a lunch taken to work, then you could also place some heart shaped cookies, or a couple of wrapped heart chocolates to make it romantic as well as some nice juicy red strawberries to keep it slightly healthy.

Valentines Day Dinner

Depending on whether you are staying in or going out to a restaurant then make a decision on what you are going to do for dinner. If you are going out for a meal, then maybe have something romantic ready for when you come back, such as a chilled bottle of champagne along with some fresh strawberries and chocolates.

If you do decide to stay in then make your cooked meal extra special by making it valentines themed. Turn your pizza or your pasta into heart shapes. This can be done by using either a large heart shaped cutter or a heart shaped baking tin that could be used as a template. If you have a ready made pizza that just needs to be cooked, then before it goes in the oven, cut it into a heart shape and add some extra toppings which you and your partner both like.

You can also get heart shaped foods such as heart shaped pieces of pasta, which could be used for a meal or just a few could be added to spaghetti to make it that bit more romantic.

To make any meal more romantic, have heart themed accessories as well. These can be heart themed napkins, heart shaped plates or bowls and anything else that you can buy from your local supermarket or a cookery store.

Desserts, Treats and Little Gestures

A simple dessert would be champagne with strawberries and chocolates. This is simple, romantic and something you can both share. Other desserts could be anything from heart shaped cakes to melt in the middle chocolate puddings that you can buy from any local supermarket.

For Valentines Day, not everything has to be made by hand, you can mix some heart shaped foiled chocolates with your partners favourite chocolates to make them more personalised. You can buy a box of heart shaped chocolates or cookies and you can serve your partner with their favourite hot drink with a heart shaped sprinkling on top to make it more romantic.
